Joanna demonstrates her passion for social justice and equity as a Project Manager on the CareerWise New York Team. Within the role, Joanna creates and strengthens relationships with school partners to develop new pathways for students to prepare for the workforce. She also advocates for systematic change by assisting in creating programs that develop innovative resources for school partners. Joanna is responsible for recruiting and preparing students to succeed, and supporting their apprentice journey along the way.
Before joining CareerWise New York, Joanna was a founding staff member of a start-up work-readiness program in partnership with a transfer high school servicing overaged and under-credited youth. In this role she supported and supervised over 100 youth interns in addition to forging partnerships with worksites to best service youth within their communities. Joanna got her start in Youth Development by earning her TEFL certificate in Prague, Czech Republic where she taught beginner, intermediate, and advanced ESL courses for youth ages 8-18. Joanna moved to NYC from Houston, Texas after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from the school of Human Services at Texas Tech University. Her time spent servicing NYC youth in career readiness confirmed her commitment to social justice, equity, and strength-based learning. This experience inspired Joanna to earn her MSW with a specialization in school social work from Silberman school of Social Work at Hunter College.
