Senior Coach/Instructional Specialist

Laura Fidler

Laura works on the Education Team as Senior Coach/Instructional Specialist at Careerwise New York. In this role, Laura supports/leads curriculum development, provides guidance and support with teacher coaching and trainings, facilitates and supports apprenticeship trainings to high school students from schools across NYC.

With over 20 years of experience in education, Laura started her career as a high school social studies teacher in NYC. Since that time, Laura has developed national career-focused and project-based curricula and led national/ local/regional workshops in curriculum development, facilitated and led a national teacher pilot program on curriculum integration and instructional strategies, work-based learning, curriculum integration, literacy strategies, and college/career readiness program implementation.

Before coming to CWNY, Laura worked with several leading education nonprofit organizations focused on college and career readiness, including NAF, Virtual Enterprises, NFTE and Junior Achievement New York as well as serving as an Adjunct Professor for College Now at Bronx Community College. Laura also had the unique opportunity to spearhead the transition to remote learning during the pandemic in her work with The School of The New York Times which offered 80 courses serving 1500 students from all across the globe. As Program Manager of Academics, Laura oversaw all course development involving NYT global contributors.

After realizing how much she missed supporting career readiness programs serving NYC students specifically, Laura supported Career Discovery Week which serves high schools across the city in its effort to bridge the career exposure gap. That experience led her directly to her current position with CWNY.

When not working, Laura enjoys practicing yoga and photographing nature.
